It all begins with an idea.

About Brave Calm Project

Hi, I’m James —CBT therapist, educator, dad, and founder of the Brave Calm Project.

After years of working in mental health and teaching the next generation of therapists, one thing is clear: anxiety is everywhere—and so many people are struggling in silence. Long waiting lists, clinical jargon, and shame often keep people from getting the support they deserve. I created the Brave Calm Project to change that.

Whether it’s through private therapy, engaging videos, or content that makes complex ideas feel simple, Brave Calm Project exists to help you understand your anxiety, manage it with confidence, and live a life that feels more your own.

Brave Calm Project is about more than managing anxiety, at its core, this project is about helping you know when to be brave, when to stay calm—and how to move forward without anxiety getting in the way.

What Does Success Look Like?

Success isn’t just numbers or likes—it’s knowing we put something real and helpful into the world. If Brave Calm Project can:

  • Reach people who might never step into a therapy room,

  • Help someone feel seen, understood, and a bit more in control,

  • And bring together all these ideas—from online learning to children’s stories—into one human, hopeful brand…

Then we’ve done what we came here to do.

Our Vision for Impact

At Brave Calm Project, we help people understand anxiety and move through it with confidence and compassion.

We create accessible, evidence-based tools and resources—like videos, worksheets, and workshops—to support real change, not just quick fixes. Whether you're looking for practical strategies or a space to feel understood, Brave Calm Project is here to support your journey.

Our approach is rooted in CBT, delivered with warmth, and shaped by real-life experience. Because facing anxiety doesn’t mean facing it alone.

Our Goals:

1. Make anxiety easier to understand and talk about
We create clear, jargon-free content—starting with YouTube—that explains what anxiety is, why it shows up, and how to manage it. Rooted in evidence-based psychology and delivered with warmth, our resources are designed to be as relatable as they are practical.

2. Build a transformative online course
We’re developing a self-paced course for people who feel overwhelmed by anxiety and want support they can access anytime. Based in CBT principles, it will offer practical tools, guided exercises, and genuine encouragement—without the clinical overwhelm.

3. Support and grow a trusted therapy brand
Alongside digital content, Brave Calm Project is home to a UK-based CBT and EMDR therapy service and clinical supervision for fellow professionals. We aim to build a joined-up brand that’s professional, approachable, and grounded in compassion.

4. Reach younger audiences through creative projects
With projects like Alien, Cowboy and Me—our children’s book about emotions—we’re starting to explore creative ways of supporting kids and families, too. Brave Calm Project will grow with us, flexible enough to hold space for all of it.
